History
Ohr HaTorah, founded in 1999 by Rabbi Avraham Mifsud first began by providing Yomim Noraim services with the assistance of Rabbi Avraham Cohen and within a few years began having regular Shabbat minyanim in the basement of Machon L'Torah with Hazzan Daniel Ben Hayoun until we moved to basement of the home of Rabbi Baruch Miyerov. When Rabbi Miyerov made aliyah Ohr HaTorah went back again to providing services for the Yomim Noraim for the next several years.
The big turning point in our history came when Rabbi Avraham Cohen, Director of Partners in Torah in Southfield, MI, Rabbi Shmuel Aboud, an avreich in the Yeshiva Beth Yehuah Kollel at the time and now a 4th grade Rebbi for Beth Yehuda, and Hazzan Dr. Daniel Mizrahi came together to make the minyan the success it is today.
Our kehilla is made of of families that come from many places throughout the world, including Israel, Bukharia, Syria, Egypt, Greece, Malta, Russia, and Algeria.
Everyone that attends is an important member of the kehilla and we welcome guests from out of town.
